Popular among teenagers, three teachers at Okanagan Mission Secondary School have been recognized for using Youtube in the classroom.
Carolyn Durley, Graham Johnson and Paul Janke are the winners of the Ken Spencer Award after introducing a program where the next days lesson is uploaded onto Youtube for students to preview on-line.
Johnson says the concept cuts down on lecture time in the classroom.
"Now what happens is students no longer go home and complete traditional homework. They simply watch our video's and then in class, what we do is no longer do that lecture so we can focus on doing rich learning activities with the students. So essentially, we are changing the way time is being used".
The Canadian Education Association will also be donating a cheque of one thousand dollars that will go towards the operation of the program.
