It appears that another federal office is closing in Kelowna, this time it could affect safety on Okanagan Lake.
According to the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees, at least two Boatgin Safety offices are closing in B.C. - one of Victoria and the other in Kelowna.
Union spokesperson Dave Clark says the offices supply license, provide safety courses and other resources.
"Boating safety is actually going off to Ottawa I guess this is one more of their bringing boating safety bringing rescue centres to Ottawa off the ocean," he said, "We are disputing most of the cuts that are not realistic we understand the mandate of this government is to do cuts but we are calling into question when the cuts affect the actual public."
Clark says in total about five jobs are affected in B.C.
