Patience behind the wheel will be necessary this long weekend.

The highways and local streets will be extremely busy with the Centre of Gravity bring visitors from all over the province.

Constable Lise Marion of Kelowna RCMP Traffic Services says speeding with the high volume of tire and foot traffic just isn't an option.

"It is hard for drivers to be more aggressive. They may try but they can't get very far because the traffic is pretty heavy right now.  So, everybody needs to take a breath, have a drink of water and just take their time and get there safely".

Marion says if you are drinking this weekend make the smart choice by using a designated driver or grabbing a taxi.
