The Civic Holiday long weekend is upon us and so is the highly anticipated waterfront festival known as Centre of Gravity.
As thousands of people converge on City Park and Kelowna's waterfront for sports, music and entertainment, RCMP have ramped up their police presence across the City and the downtown core.
RCMP Constable, Kris Clark, says,"With the expectation of large crowds this weekend, we have enhanced our policing to ensure people enjoy Centre of Gravity safely."
Clark adds most of the problems that do occur with large events such as Centre of Gravity stem from behaviours directly related to alcohol and drug consumption.
Kelowna RCMP have put in place a zero tolerance policy this weekend, when it comes to illegal drug use and alcohol consumption, with fines ranging from $115 to $230.
"The best case scenario would be to have a weekend like we had a Keloha, where everybody had a good time and no arrests were made," says Clark.
