Several customers near the Orchard Park Shopping Mall were left without power early this morning and a furry critter was to blame.

The power outage struck shortly after 7:30 this morning in the areas of Spall Rd. & Harvey, as well as Spall Rd. and Springfield Rd.

FortisBC Spokesperson, Tracy Tang, says,"There was some damage to a substation and indication is that it actually was a squirrel that had impacted some of the wires at the substation.  The repairs had to be done, but it was quite quickly and promptly, all the folks who were affected are now back on."

Tang adds "We always appreciate people's patience when these things happen, and know that we always do work as promptly as possible to dispatch our staff out there to fix the problem as soon as possible."
