The Kamloops Fire Centre has issued a campfire ban which takes effect on Friday.
It includes the entire Okanagan along with the Similkameen, North Okanagan, and Shuswap.
Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek says there are a couple of factors that played into the decision making.
"We look at a number of factors and obviously the fire danger rating plays a big factor into that. We also have to look into the kind of activity we are seeing. We've been actively paroling campsites and recreation sites for the past month."
Extremely dry condition also played a factor in the issuing of the campfire ban which also includes fireworks.
Record breaking warm temperatures are expected this weekend.
Anyone who violates the ban could face a fine of up to $345.
