It is a sure sign that Kelowna Rockets captain Tyson Barrie won't be picking up the award for the Western Hockey League's top defenceman.
Barrie hasn't recieved an invitation to the league's annual award banquet Wednesday in Calgary.
That means Saskatoon Blades rearguard Stefan Elliott will pick up the honour.
Elliott was the Eastern Conference nominee for defenceman of the year while Barrie was the Western Conference nominee.
Both Barrie and Elliott are draft picks of the Colorado Avalanche and both have been signed by the NHL team.
