Wine Bill passes Senate

Legislation that bans transporting wine between provinces is closer to becoming eliminated.

Bill C-311 has been given third reading in the Senate and it's expected to receive Royal assent later this month.

Okanagan-Coquihalla MP Dan Albas calls this an exciting time for the country.

"Currently close to 70 per cent of our domestic wine market is catered to by imported foreign wines. Anything we can do to change that so more Canadian wines are consumed will be a huge benefit."

Albas is pleased the Bill will become law in time for the wine tourism season, allowing BC visitors to bring a bottle or two back home with them.
