Taking a bite out of the Kelowna downtown drug trade
In an effort to reduce drug activity in downtown Kelowna, the RCMP have made eleven arrests in what is being described as a crime reduction sweep.
The alleged drug dealers face 12 separate counts of trafficking.
Constable Kris Clark says those drug dealers have 198 convictions combined.
"With the recently released statistics they showed a downward trend in violent and property crimes but that is not going to stop our continued efforts. We have a crime reduction strategy and we are going to continue those efforts. Every little bit helps".
Clark says one of the drug dealers facing charges is such a prolific offender that he's been placed on the national high risk offender list.
The RCMP continue to look for two drug dealers that remain at large.
