Central Okanagan could break temperatures records

Record temperatures could be set in Kelowna and the Central Okanagan this weekend.

A strong upper ridge of high pressure has set in with temperatures expected in the mid to high 30's.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Doug Lundquist says August has been warm.

"We've only had maybe three days this month where the highs haven't gone above 30 degrees.  Which is very unusual for us.  Normally its about 50/50 maybe have the days in the high 20's and have the days in the low 30's.  But to have almost the whole month so far being above 30 is pretty good."

Lundquist says the air in the Okanagan has cleared up since the smoke moved on after settling in from Russia.

He adds there is even a slight chance of thundershowers next week, but it's hard to predict if we will actually see rain.
