BC Liberals will be busy, outside of Legislature

9/13/2012

The BC liberals may not return to the legislature until the new year.

The Libs saying they may cancel the fall session, using the time to bring new cabinet ministers up to speed on their portfolios and drafting the budget.

Ben Stewart, Minister of Citizens' Services and Open Government says if the government isn't in the legislature, it doesn't mean they aren't working hard for BC residents.

"As a local MLA and non-cabinet member I spent 32 days in meetings prior to August 15th on government business working on timber supply and the review of conducted energy weapons. You know, we have a lot of work outside of the legislature and quite frankly, we're busy doing that."

Stewart says the house was adjourned without proroguing parliament, so it can be called back at any time to finish the session.
