End Of An Era

Last ride for Captain Little

Wayne Little, Captain of Vernon Fire Rescue C Shift, has been a member of Vernon Fire-Rescue for 36 years total. He began as a volunteer for 3.5 years and then as a Career firefighter on January 8, 1980 for 32.6 years. He will retire on Tuesday, August 28th and take his "last ride” when his shift drives him home.
Wayne's retirement marks the end of an era for his family. Fred S. Little was Fire Chief 1939 to 1970 and Ken M. Little was Fire Chief 1970 to 1980.
Fire Chief Keith Green remarked, “We thank Captain Little for all his dedication and hard work during his career and wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
