OKM students do their own version of Gangnam Style
It began as a film project for students at Okanagan Mission Secondary, but now it has become a video of school pride.
Members of the Social Media Class created a video featuring the students and teachers at OKM dancing along to Gangnam Style by Psy.
Tish Rajapakshe, one of the students in the class, says they want the video to viral.
"We just want to make a huge hype about this so people can see that social media can be used in a positive way to enforce learning and things like that."
Stanley Prescott, another student in the Social Media Class at OKM, says the video showcases the school spirit that students have.
"It was really about building the hype. We wanted to get our school involved, we wanted everyone involved. We want to build a community of our school and want everyone to feel involved with the social media in a positive way."
The video currently has close to 30,000 hits on YouTube and shows no signs of slowing down.
It took about two weeks for students to create the video and a lot of time was put in during their lunch hours and after school.
The video features the school's mascot doing a lot of the dance moves, but members of the OKM graduating class are busting a few moves as well not to mention the senior girls volleyball team.
Both Prescott and Rajapakshe along with other students in the class want the video to go viral and are crossing their fingers that day-time talk show host Ellen will view it.
