Three Rockets players picked up in NHL draft


Three Kelowna Rockets players were taken in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft over the weekend in Pittsburgh.

Going in the second round was Colton Sissons and Damon Severson.

Sissons was chosen 50th overall by the Nashville Predators.

Severson went 10 spots later to the New Jersey Devils.

Going in the sixth round was Ryan Olen who was picked up by the Winnipeg Jets.

The Kelowna Rockets also had one of the European import selections drafted.

Latvian star Zemgus Girgensons was drafted 14th overall by the Buffalo Sabres.

The Rockets have the CHL rights to Girgensons after selecting him in the 2011 CHL import draft.
