Weber to stay with Preds

It looks like top paid NHL defenceman Shea Weber isn't going anywhere.

The Nashville Predators announced Tuesday that they've matched the 14-year, $110-million offer sheet between their captain and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Predators are calling the move "the most important hockey transaction in franchise history."

The agreement comes just a day before Nashville's deadline to match
Philadelphia's offer.

The 26 year old former Kelowna Rockets player had 19 goals and 49 points last season for Nashville.

The Predators had already lost free-agent defenceman Ryan Suter to Minnesota this summer, and losing Weber would have been a major blow to the teams defence.
