Flasher Psychology
As police continue to search for clues in a series of public flashings, a doctor of psychiatry is shedding some light on the mindset of a flasher.
Doctor Kulwant Riar teaches psychiatry at UBC and says flashers get a sexual release from exposing themselves.
He says people who repeatedly flash get a high, but help is available for those who want to stop.
"I think there are treatments, if they are willing to seek treatment. There are psychological treatments and there is a medication too, which can help them lower their sex drive so they don't do it. But the person has to be willing; this is a problem and they have to want to do something about it."
Over thirty flashing incidents have been reported in Kelowna this year.
