Car stolen after woman leaves it running in gas station.

A 19 year old Kelowna man is facing theft over 5-thousand charges after making off with a Hyundai SUV from a Gas Station Saturday.

Constable Steve Holmes says a woman left her car running at the Extra Foods Gas bar in West Kelowna when it was stolen.

"She started up her vehicle, and remembered she needed a newspaper.  So she went back inside the gas bar, purchased a newspaper, but left the vehicle running.  When she came back outside, it was gone."

RCMP members were able to track the vehicle to Shannon Lake Road, and arrested 3 men who were in the vehicle at the time.

A 19 year old admitted to taking the car, and picked up two friends afterward.

The man is known to police for criminal code issues.
