Kelowna man to appear in court in weekend stabbing

RCMP say male victim in stable condition

A 27-year-old Kelowna man faces charges after another man was stabbed on the weekend.

RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a home in the 1200 block of Belgo Road at around 4:50 Sunday morning.

Inside, officers discovered a man in a bedroom who appeared to be suffering from a stab wound.

"Preliminary information from witnesses at the scene suggest the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal arguement which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation where the victim was allagedly stabbed by the suspect," he says.

O’Donaghey says the victim suffered serious injuries, and was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

He remains in stable condition.

The suspect was to appear in court Tuesday – his name has not yet been released.
