The project to widen Highway 97 from Highway 33 to Edwards Rd will bump out a prominent Welcome to Kelowna sign.
The city says the white sign at Highway 97 and Sexsmith/Old Vernon Road needs to be removed to complete highway improvements, which includes widening Highway 97 to 6 and intersection improvements at Sexsmith and Old Vernon roads.
The sign, which has greeted visitors and tourists in the north end, will be dismantled during the night, beginning Tuesday.
The city says a new Kelowna entrance feature will be identified in the future.
