Pair recovering from hypothermia

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) were called out to assist RCMP search for two men who were located nearly a dozen hours after they separated from their group on Big White.

On March 12, 2017 shortly after 8 pm, the Big White Fire Department contacted the Kelowna RCMP to advise that they had received a report of a missing skier and snow boarder.

At approximately 3 pm the two men, both of Kelowna and both in their 20's, had become separated from their friend while the group was approximately halfway thru their final run of the day in the Gem Lake area.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) were engaged and called out to assist.

Search and rescue crews began their ground search at approximately 10 pm and eventually located the two men at 3:15 am.

Both men showed signs of moderate hypothermia and were transported to hospital by emergency paramedics for further medical assessment and treatment.
