Wood Lake boaters may lose popular spot to tieup

Swimmers, however, are going to like this

District of Lake Country council is looking at a proposal that would make those who like to swim at Wood Lake pretty happy – boaters..not so much.

Council is being asked to approve an application to the province for a License of Occupation to restrict a stretch of shoreline at the north end of Wood lake exclusively for swimmers – bouys and a swim raft would be installed.

The restricted beach would extend from the south boundary of the boat launch to the east side of the channel between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake – it would also extend 200 metres into Wood Lake from the high water mark.

Right now, that beach area is a popular spot for boaters and personal watercraft to pull-in and tie-up.

The district currently holds Licences of Occupation for all at municipal owned waterfront in Okanagan Centre and Carr’s Landing.
