Kelownas rainfall amounts for April on par
It might seem like it's been raining a lot, but April has not cracked the top ten when it comes to rainfall amounts in Kelowna.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says so far this month, the area has received 33 mm of rain – 29 mm is the normal amount.
"It ranks as the 16th wettest April on record, but there are still a few days left in the month where we could advance in the ranks. The wettest we have on record was in 1988 – that April saw 62.7 mm, almost double what we've had this year," she says.
Charbonneau says April 2016 was incredibly dry with just 4.9-millimetres of rain.
So far this month, Kelowna has received 9 days of precipitation, but Charbonneau says even that's not a record – 11 days is actually seasonal for April.
