A 59-year-old Kelowna man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed his wife during a domestic dispute.

Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says Kelowna RCMP were called to a home on June Springs Road at 1:30 am on Tuesday for a report of a violent family disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found an injured man on the front porch of the house and an injured woman in the backyard.

“The male appeared to be suffering from self-inflicted injuries that were believed to be non-life threatening in nature and the man was also being provided with first-aid treatment from a family member.” O'Donaghey said.

“Officers then located a female victim in the backyard area of the property and that woman was suffering from multiple stab wounds.”

The woman was taken to hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The man was also taken to hospital for his injuries and is now in police custody, facing potential charges.

RCMP have secured the scene as they wait for a search warrant to examine the property.
