Fundraiser for injured Kelowna man tomorrow

James SummersGill still recovering after random attack downtown

A man who was jumped and attacked downtown is having a local fundraiser organized in his name.

A night of local music and a silent auction is being organized by a local group called Community Cares, and will be at the OK Corral tomorrow night starting at 6.

That local group says they didn't personally know, James Summers-Gill, who's had trouble finding work since the attack that's left him with headaches and an ongoing brain injury.

On April 1 last year, he was walking his then-eight-year-old daughter to school near Prospera Place, when 42-year-old Mark Fines ran up and attacked him, unprovoked.

20-dollar tickets are still available at the door for tomorrow night, and they include admission, a burger, and a beer.
