Liberals Throne Speech expected to contain key NDPGreen policies
British Columbia's new speaker is Kelowna-Mission MLA Steve Thomson.
Thomson, the former Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resouces, was acclaimed Thursday morning.
The Canadian Press reports that in his acceptance speech, Thomson said his appointment will likely be brief, producing laughter from both sides of the house.
Premier Christy Clark has already said this afternoon's speech from the throne will contain policies that were key parts of the Opposition New Democrat and Green party election platforms.
Despite that, the Liberals are expected to be defeated in a confidence vote as early as next week, clearing the way for an NDP-Green minority government.
