Two blazes sparked up on the weekend
A couple of small forest fires sparked up in the region over the weekend.
Six firefighters from the BC Wildfire Service continue to work on a .63 hectare blaze about 10-kilometres south of Penticton.
Fire Information Officer Justine Hunse says the fire is "being held" and no homes are threatened – there's no word yet on the cause.
The other fire, at .53 hectares in size, is near Garnet Lake – about 3-kilometres west of Highway 97 between Penticton and Summerland.
Hunse says it's classified as "under control" – but three firefighters remain on the ground checking for hot spots.
She says the fire is believed to be human-caused.
