A close call last night as a roadside fire got close to condos.
Firefighters responding to the fire after 11:00pm Monday night found heavy flames in the brush and trees above Harvey Ave near Burtch Rd, climbing an embankment towards a nearby condo.
The highway was closed for a period of time as crews worked to put out the flames before it was able to cause extensive damage.
The cause is under investigation, but the fire has prompted a reminder from the Kelowna Fire Department that smoking material should be safely discarded.
