Boat crashes into West Kelowna shoreline

Three men found floating in Okanagan Lake

A group of men came away uninjured after crashing a boat into the shoreline in West Kelowna last night.

At about 10 pm, police were called up to Westside Road, north of Lake Okanagan Resort, where a 24-foot speedboat was lying near some trees after hitting the shore.

Rescuers found 3 men still in the lake, one of whom was the owner of the boat.

A 32-year-old from West Kelowna was also kept at the police station overnight – RCMP say he was too drunk to safely leave, and was released after he sobered up.

Police are still investigating the factors of the crash, including an unproven report that there was a fourth person on the boat.

Witnesses are asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP.
