Evacuation Order remains in effect
As of Friday morning, there's no word of any structures being impacted by the Philpott Road wildfire – but officials say they haven't had a chance to make a detailed assessment yet – that'll come in the next few days.
At last report – the blaze was 380-hectares in size.
Overnight firefighters from five Central Okanagan departments, and ten other departments across the region along with crews from the BC wildfire service, were working to contain the blaze.
For 1,100 residents forced to flee the flames in Joe Rich – there is no change in the Evacuation Order. Emergency officials say the status of the order will be reviewed Friday morning.
Evacuees are asked to check in at the Emergency Support Services reception centre at the Willow Park Church on Highway 33 West in Rutland – it'll open at 10:00 Friday morning.
Highway 33 remains closed from Gallagher Road to Big White Road – a detour route is available via McCulloch Road.
