Cool overnight temps and minimal wind help firefighters

Philpott Road Wildfire still 380 hectares in size

Emergency Officials say there were no unexpected challenges overnight for firefighters on the Philpott Road wildfire.

A cool overnight temperature and minimal wind kept the fire from progressing – it was 380 hectares in size at last report – and officials say there are still no reports of any structures being impacted.

Firefighters from several local and regional departments, and crews from the BC wildfire service, created a fire guard overnight to try and contain the fire.

An Evacuation Order remains in place for about 11-hundred residents – and officials say the status of the order will be reviewed later this morning.

Highway 33 also remains closed from Gallagher Road to Big White Road – but there is a detour available via McCulloch Road.
