Residents back home after gas leak in Kelowna

Gas line ruptured this morning in construction zone on Ethel Street

Residents are back in their suites after a natural gas leak at the corner of Harvey and Ethel in Kelowna this morning.

It's believed a construction crew, working on rebuilding Ethel Street, hit a gas line just after 10:00 am forcing the evcuation of a couple of nearby apartments.

About 50 people were forced out of the Copperstone Gate complex and another building across the street.

The Kelowna Fire Department, RCMP and FortisBC all attended the scene.
