Up 50cents to 11.35anhour
BC's minimum wage is going up by 50-cents today to $11.35 an hour, and up to $10.10 for those who serve liquor – the increase now gives the province the third-highest minimum wage in Canada – up from seventh.
The government says in the coming weeks, the fair wages commission will provide recommendations on how to get BC to a $15-dollar-an-hour minimum wage with regular, measured and predictable increases that businesses can absorb.
The commission will submit its first report within 90 days of its first meeting.
