The 27-year-old West Kelowna man has been charged with operating a vessel in a careless manner and failing to provide information after a collision.
West Kelowna RCMP believe he's primarily responsible for a number of careless acts committed by four sea-doo riders on July 6, including a "power slide" performed by one rider around a boat, which sent a 2-year-old into the water.
In another incident, the four riders ripped extremely close to a boat, striking the vessel and sending a number of personal items overboard.
Police say they were able to bring the investigation to a close by identifying the company the sea-doo's were rented from, and through tips from the public.
They have not publically revealed the identity of the man charged. The full offences he’s facing are:
- operate a vessel in a careless manner, without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons under section 1007 of the Small Vessel Regulations (SVR). A charge which carries a fine of $402.00;
- failing, after a collision, to give name of vessel or name and address of authorized representative, to Master or person in charge of other vessel under section 148(b) of the Canada Shipping Act (CSA). A charge which carries a fine of $287.52;
