RDCO backs transit gas tax transfer

Money moved into budget for Rutland transit exchange

A quarter-million dollars in regional gas tax funding has officially been transferred to the Rutland transit exchange project.

Monday night, the board of the RDCO voted to take the $250,500 out of plans to build public washrooms and a security pavilion at the Queensway loop.

That money had originally been given back in 2009, but was set to expire at the end of this year.

The downtown pavilion had been in the works for the last couple years, but didn't receive enough funding to go ahead this year, which meant the money had to be used elsewhere.

The Rutland exchange will extend Shepherd Road through Centennial Park, from Roxby to Rutland Road.
