KelownaWest byelection called for Feb.14

Advance polls running Feb. 611

Premier John Horgan has set a date for a byelection in West Kelowna.

People in the Kelowna West riding will head to the polls on February 14, to elect a replacement for Christy Clark.

Clark was elected back in May, but later resigned her seat when she stepped down as Liberal Party leader in August.

More details will be released on advance voting possibilities, which will happen over six days between February 6 and 11.

You can vote in the byelection if you live in the Kelowna West riding, are at least 18 years old, have Canadian citizenship, and lived in BC for at least six months.

Four candidates have put their names forward – those are Ben Stewart for the Liberals, Shelley Cook for the NDP, the Green Party's Robert Stupka, and Libertarian Kyle Geronazzo.

It's the first byelection in the area since 2013, when Stewart stepped down to allow Clark an opportunity to run.

Voter turnout that year was at 40.84%.
