Calgary man busted in Lake Country break in

RCMP still searching for second suspect

A 52-year-old man was busted, and another is still on the lam, after a break-and-enter at a coffee shop in Lake Country.

RCMP say they were called to Oceola Road, at around 3:00 am Monday, by a security company who caught the crooks on surveillance cameras breaking into the shop.

When police showed up – one of the men took off in Blue Dodge van – while the other ran off.

Police say they were unable to stop the driver who was speeding and driving dangerously.

To help in tracking the suspect who ran away – officers called in the Kelowna RCMP canine unit – and found the van which had crashed into a parked boat and trailer in the area.

The driver was not at the scene, but the dog tracked the suspect to a building a few blocks away, arresting him near a fence line.

A Calgary man now faces charges – police are still searching for the other man.
