Not being marketed nationally or internationally.
As part of phase two of plans to build 500 living spaces in Glenmore, 105 condominiums are expected to be completed next year.
Glenmore Central on Valley and Summit Roads will be marketed exclusively in the Okanagan, in hopes of offering residents an affordable housing option in Kelowna.
“We haven’t gone nationally with the offering, so the focus is by no means for investors,” says Sam Brovender of West Point Projects. “It’s really to provide people with an opportunity for home ownership.”
The condos will range from $189,900 for a studio, to $344,900 for a two-bedroom unit.
Glenmore Central will also come with a community garden, as well as two OGO car share vehicles on-site.
Corey Makus, Vice President of Traine Construction, says the units will be ready to move into in just over a year.
“We’re aiming for late next summer and early fall,” says Makus. “So we’ve already started construction. Excavation is underway, and we’re expecting first concrete in the month of May.”
The condo units will sit next to an apartment complex of 166 units, which are expected to be completed by this fall.
Other phases of the expansion include buildings specialized for seniors and assisted living.
Plans to expand the development around the Conservatory date back to 2001, but the project never got past the foundation stage due to financial issues.
