BC Tree Fruits says growing conditions ideal
The Okanagan is looking at a record cherry crop this year.
BC Tree Fruits Co-op says growing conditions have been ideal – and has resulted in an estimated 12-million pound crop this season.
Co-op Marketing Manager Chris Pollock says 2017's cherry crop was smaller – at 10-million pounds – due to weather challenges across the region.
He says besides cherries – they're anticipating a very good peach, nectarine, prune, plum and table grape crop with volumes either slightly higher or similar to last year.
Cherries will begin hitting stores shelves starting the end of June.
