Kelowna teacher died in weekend crash

31yearold taught kindergarten at Anne McClymount Elementary

The woman who died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on HIghway 1 has been identified as a kindergarten teacher from Kelowna.

31-year-old Tayah Lloyd was a passenger in a westbound Tacoma that collided head-on with an eastbound pickup near Bridal Falls – the crash closed the highway for about 12 hours.

Lloyd, who taught at Anne McClymont Elementary School – and who was five months pregnant – died at the scene. The two drivers suffered serious injuries.

Central Okanagan School Superintendent Kevin Kaardal confirmed her identity Monday saying "our heart goes out to the family."

He said a critical incident response team was brought to the school for support.
