Hit and run driver turns himself in

Police still looking for witnesses

A driver involved in a hit and run from Monday morning in West Kelowna has come forward to police and is cooperating with the investigation.

The incident ocurred at a construction site on Westside Road, when the driver of a white commerical Ford truck got hostile with a traffic flagger.

After allegedly uttering threats, the driver passed through, despite the flagger's instructions. By doing so, the truck knocked the sign out of the flagger's hand, injuring her wrist.

The suspect then pulled over and began arguing with the woman's co-workers, who asked him to remain at the scene. Instead, the suspect got back into his truck and drove off.

RCMP Constable Leslie Smith says police are still looking for witnesses, one of which reportedly got video of the incident from a dash cam.

“Independent witnesses are crucial for any traffic related investigation as their information can assist in determining what exactly occurred at the scene,” says Smith.

It's unknown if the driver involved in the incident will face criminal charges at this time.
