Three suspects arrested, will appear in court in September.
A police investigation led Kelowna RCMP to the discovery of a large amount of guns, drugs, and cash at a residence on Belaire Avenue last week.
On Tuesday, June 19th, police conducted a search warrant and found the following items:
- Five long guns
- 16 handguns
- A sawed-off shotgun
- Fentanyl
- Cocaine
- Heroin
- Psilocybin mushrooms
- Methamphetamine
- Four high end bicycles that police believe were stolen
- A large amount of cash
Police believe most of the firearms recovered during the search were previously reported stolen from a Penticton residence.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene, while a 38-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were also arrested later on. Police say the 33-year-old man is a well-known suspect affiliated with an organized crime group.
All three suspects have been released from custody, but will be back in court in September on several drug, firearm, and property-related charges.
“This significant seizure has taken numerous firearms out of the hands of criminals and has ultimately shut down a residence that was operating in a criminal capacity," says RCMP Constable Lesley Smith.
