“It could take a week to clean up”

Storm leaves a mess behind.

The clean up continues for city crews following last night's heavy wind and rain storm.

Parks Services Manager Blair Stewart says they've been busy, with close to 80 service calls.

"More than anything it is branches and leaf debris, which is probably very similiar to everybody's back yard. Overall, the service requests range from anything like a branch down to major tree failure. It will probably take us a week to clean it all up".

Stewart says two city crews and two contract crews are working hard cleaning up the mess.

"Every year we try to do work throughout our beach parks. They are the highest priority areas because they will sustain the most wind. We do have a plan in place to look at these areas with an Arborist inspecting these routes and make sure they are safe and look out for hazards," Stewart added.

Stewart says you can give the City a call if you have a concern about a tree on your property that was damaged in the storm.
