RCMP gear up for busy summer

More people in Kelowna means more crime.

More people…..more crime.

Kelowna RCMP Superintendent Brent Mundle says it’s inevitable.

The public can protect themselves from being a victim by taking a few easy steps.

"Theft from vehicles, as I always say and theft of bicycles is starting to increase. I really implore people to make sure they are removing valuables from vehicles and insuring they are locked and locking up their bicycles."

Mundle is concerned with a report this week of a grandmother and her grandchild receiving death threats at City Park.

"Obviously if it is something serious in nature, we would expect someone to contact 911.  If it is less serious and they maybe don't need immediate attendance, I would ask them to call the regular administrative number."

Mundle says they have increased both foot and bike patrols at City Park to make it safe for everyone.
