Will be legal in Canada October 17th
After the Senate passed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Bill C-45 Tuesday night, it’s now official: marijuana will be legalized in Canada starting October 17th, 2018.
AM 1150 asked Kelowna residents what they thought about the legalization. Many were enthusiastic about the Bill being passed.
“I think it’s better to have it legal, and not have so many people put in jail for something that’s so minimal,” said one man.
But there were some who did not share that enthusiasm.
“If it’s used for the right things, I think a lot of people will abuse it,” said one woman.
Many concerns were raised about the legalization, ranging from the possibility of drivers under the influence of marijuana, to having to smell it in public.
Bill C-45 will still need to get royal assent before it can be made law.
