Severe Thunderstorm Watch in the Valley

Kelowna the least atrisk area for a storm

The Southern Interior is under a severe Thunderstorm Watch, meaning we could see a mix of heavy rain, wind, and lightning throughout the Valley.

While Kelowna is the least at-risk area to get a storm during this time, there’s still a good chance of seeing some lightning here and there.

Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says residents should be ready in case the Thunderstorm Watch gets upgraded to a Warning.

“When thunder roars, go indoors,” says Lundquist. “Also lock things down that might blow away if we get a thunderstorm.”

Looking ahead, the weekend is looking hot, with temperatures possibly reaching into the low thirties. It's then expected to cool off slightly for early next week.
