Social media remarks made against Sun organization.
The head coach of the Westshore Rebels has made a public apology to the Okanagan Sun.
Charly Cardilicchia made disparaging remarks about the Sun and head coach Ben Mcauley on his personal Facebook account, only to release a statement Wednesday saying his comments were "not true, inappropriate and irresponsible".
What did the BC Football Conference think of the coaches late night rant?
President Tyler McLaren spoke to AM 1150 News about how the league was dealing with the situation.
"We understand that people get exuberant and excited, but we can't have anyone singling out other coaches or players from any of our clubs, which unfortunatley happened here".
The BCFC will not suspend Cardilicchia for his remarks, but McLaren had a phone conversation with him.
"It is something we take serious. In social media it happens. More things like this could happen and we have to be more cognicent of what we say and how we say it and make sure we are setting an example and coaches and executives have to be held to the highest stand possible," McLaren added.
Cardilicchia remarks have since been deleted from Facebook.
This isn't the first time a junior football executive has made misguided remarks on social media.
In May, the president of the Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football team stepped down after making racial insentative comments also on Facebook.
