Water Advisories End

City of Kelownas system Westshore Estates system

The Water Quality Advisory is over for all customers of the City of Kelowna’s Water Utility.  The Water Quality Advisory was originally issued on Tuesday, May 15th  for the majority of residents and businesses, and expanded to include all customers on May 25th.

In consultation with the Interior Health Authority, drinking water from City Water Utility intakes has been monitored, tested, and is consistently showing good results.  All businesses and public facilities on the City Water Utility can now remove Water Quality Advisory notifications posted at all tap and sink locations.  “Turbidity levels at all City water intakes have dropped into the normal range again. Now that we are seeing consistently high water quality across the board, we can confidently rescind the advisory,” says Ed Hoppe, Water Quality & Customer Care Supervisor.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has also rescinded a Water Quality Advisory that’s been in place since May 15th for customers of the Westshore Estates Water System.

The higher turbidity caused by the high levels of the Okanagan Lake source water has decreased and is once again within the acceptable and safe Canadian guidelines for drinking water quality. Communication Officer Bruce Smith says,  “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers on the 265 properties connected to the water system.”

A number of Water Quality Alerts remain in place in the Central Okanagan. Check with your water service provider for the most up-to-date information.
