Kelowna SPCA hopes to fundraise 25,000
Several Okanagan celebrities are going to be locked up this Thursday, June 21st, all for a good cause.
The Kelowna SPCA’s annual Lock-In for Love aims to raise money for sick, injured, and homeless pets, in hopes of caring for them and finding them good homes.
Volunteer Co-ordinator Enjulie Bedi says this lock-up isn't exactly what you'd call a punishment.
“We set participants in a dog kennel or a cat room, and they have to raise donations to fund their break out,” says Bedi. “All of these donations come back to the SPCA.”
Last year, Lock-In events around BC raised over $20,000. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $25,000.
Participants this year include Brigitte Stapleton of R-H and P Lawyers, as well as Kelowna SPCA alumni Cam Buska.
“They’re obviously representing the animals that have to stay in our care,” says Bedi. “These guys are going to have somewhat of a VIP treatment compared to what it might seem like.”
