Grass fire started in Mission Creek Park Sunday

Size estimated at 50×75 feet

Kelowna firefighters snuffed out a grass fire in Mission Creek Regional Park on Sunday.

At about 3:30, crews were called to the edge of the park east of Springfield and Benvoulin, where there was heavy black smoke and flames visible.

The fire was roughly 3700 square feet before crews established a fire guard around the perimeter.

Investigators believe a nearby transient camp is responsible for starting it.
