Residents help put out grass fire

Fire grew to approximately six by eight meters in size

Residents along Mount Royal Drive in Kelowna pitched in to fight a grass fire that started just after noon on Wednesday.

Using garden hoses, they managed to contain the fire until emergency crews, consisting of 4 personnel, arrived to help extinguish the rest of the blaze.

A resident in the area said it took less than thirty minutes to fully extinguish the fire.

The fire grew to be about six by eight meters in size, and left a large section of the brush on the hillside charred.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
